EMPRESS UNVEILS LATEST INTERNET APPLICATIONS TOOLKIT

NEW FEATURES: Continuous sessions, Simpler syntaxes, National Language Support

Greenbelt, MD. -- Empress announces the release of Empress Hypermedia V2.10, loaded with new enhancements and features for creating database-driven, dynamic Web pages. Enhancements to this Internet applications toolkit include: the ability to establish a continuous session to the Empress RDBMS; simpler syntaxes for switching database tools; the ability to utilize multiple languages in addition to English; an easier method for establishing joins between two data tables; the option to use in-line CGIs; and the ability to insert data into a database from a file on the client.

The Empress Hypermedia V2.10 user can take advantage of the latest features in interfacing Web applications to the Empress RDBMS. Features such as the ability to establish a continuous session to the database improve security by the use of the session syntax. The user even has complete control over the time span in which the system sits idle before a connection closes. Additionally, application developers can now utilize a simpler syntax for making SQL calls for switching tools via the URL. National Language Support in Empress Hypermedia allows any language character set that can be typed in an application to be used at both the program and the HTML file page level.

These and a host of other new features make Empress Hypermedia V2.10 the state-of-the-art Internet applications development toolkit. An additional new feature is a keyword for easily establishing joins between tables in the Empress database. Also, in creating HTML documents, users of httpd servers have the option to use in-line CGIs rather than script alias directories if they prefer. The Internet applications toolkit even allows Empress users to take advantage of the new upload facilities available within some Internet browsers in order to insert data into a database from a file on the client.

"We know that all Web developers want extended power and control in the creation of Web applications, but each developer tends to be unique in how they prefer to create their Internet applications," states Empress Software's Director of Product Development, Njai Wong. "With these new features in Empress Hypermedia, we brought each Web developer an Internet applications toolkit that can suit their distinctive preferences."

Empress Software develops and supports the Empress Relational Database Management System. The Empress RDBMS V6.10 is one of the most powerful and cost-effective development databases especially designed for embedded systems developers operating on Unix, Windows or real-time environments.
